Combined Theory & Hazard Perception Research Study
Developing a continuous 10-minute CGI test clip combining theory questions and hazard perception to explore the potential of a unified driver assessment.
The Challenge
Building upon Jellylearn's relationship with Nottingham Trent University (NTU), a project primarily funded by the RAC Foundation explored whether combining the theory and hazard perception tests into one single continuous assessment could deliver better outcomes than the current two-test format. No such combined test had previously been developed or subjected to rigorous academic research.
Our Solution
Jellylearn developed a continuous 10-minute CGI clip that combined pop-up multiple choice questions — as per the current theory test — with hazards that performed in exactly the same way as the current DVSA test. NTU undertook a thorough research programme with young and experienced drivers to evaluate and measure the key differences and outcomes between these two cohorts.
